Mahnwache in Gedenken an George Floyd

Die brutale Ermordung George Floyds durch Derek Chauvin, einen Polizeibeamten des Minneapolis Police Department in den USA, macht seit Tagen als virales Video und dank Aufklärungsbeiträgen von Schwarzen Netzaktivist*innen weltweit, angeführt durch das Black Lives Matter Movement aus den Vereinigten Staaten, über den gleichnamigen Hashtag #BlackLivesMatter die Runde. Das Video zeigt Chauvin wie er auf dem Nacken von George Floyd kniet, der sich weder bewegen, noch atmen kann. "I can't breathe" sind seine letzten Worte, bevor er stirbt. Drei weitere Polizisten stehen tatenlos um das Geschehen herum. Der Anschlag auf Floyd reiht sich ein in eine schier endlos scheinende Kette von schrecklichen Gewalttaten, denen Menschen Afrikanischer Abstammung (auch BPOC = Black People of Color genannt), aufgrund von Rassistischer Profilierung durch Polizeibeamte in den nordamerikanischen Staatengemeinschaften zum Opfer fallen. Tode, die oft jahrzehntelang ohne schwerwiegende Folgen für die Täter*innen bleiben. Möglich gemacht durch ein globales Anti-Schwarzes System, das seit über fünfhundert Jahren diffamierende Gesellschaftsbilder mit den phänotypischen Merkmalen von BPOC assoziiert und propagiert. Tanisha Anderson, Hadiya Pendleton, Rekia Boyd, Breonna Taylor und Tony McDade sind weitere Namen, an die wir uns erinnern wollen und für die wir Gerechtigkeit fordern. Und auch Schwarze Menschen hier in Deutschland sind von Ermordung durch die Polizei betroffen. Zum Beispiel bleibt der Fall von Oury Jallloh seit 15 Jahren unaufgeklärt. Doch rassistische Morde sind nur die Spitze von White Supremacy. Auch der Alltagsrassismus, den Schwarze Menschen in Deutschland erfahren und der sich unter anderem auch über den Freiburger Wohnungsmarkt und über Freiburgs Behörden erstreckt, hinterlässt an Schwarzen Menschen seine Spuren. Und auch darüber hinaus sehen sich BPOC täglich der Entwertung ihres Seins durch die weiße Mehrheitsgesellschaft ausgesetzt und werden auf unzählige Weisen ihren Freih
eitsrechten und ihrer Gleichstellung vor dem Gesetz beraubt.

Diese Ungerechtigkeit, die Verletzung der Menschenwürde, darf nicht weiter geduldet werden! Struktureller Rassismus, Anti-Blackness, Alltagsrassismus und Rechter Terror müssen von der gesamten Gesellschaft als Problem erkannt und bekämpft werden!

Wir rufen deshalb auf zur
Mahnwache am Samstag den 06.06.20 um 11.30 Uhr am Platz der alten Synagoge.

Ordner*innen und weitere Unterstützung: Wir suchen noch Menschen, die organisatorische Aufgaben vor Ort, unter anderem den Schutz von Schwarzen Menschen, übernehmen. Wir wollen einen möglichst sicheren Rahmen für unsere Geschwister und Elders schaffen. *Vigil in memory of George Floyd and other Black people murdered by police brutality*

The brutal murder of George Floyd by Derek Chauvin, a police officer of the Minneapolis Police Department in the USA, has been going viral as a video for the last couple of days thanks to educational contributions of Black network activists worldwide, lead by the Black Lives Matter Movement in the United States and with the identically named hashtag #BlackLivesMatter succesfully going around the world.
The video shows Chauvin as he is knealing on the neck of George Floyd who can neither move nor breathe. "I can't breathe" are his final words before he dies. Three other police men are wittnessing the the incident on the sidelines.
This attack on Floyd represents one of endless horrible acts of violence which people of African descent (also called BPOC = Black People of Color) have been falling victim through racial profiling at the hands of police officers in the North American community of states. Deaths that often remain without serious consequences for the perpetrator for years. All made possible by a global anti-Black system that has been associating and propagating defamatory societal pictures with the phenotypic attributes of BPOC. Tanisha Anderson, Hadiya Pendleton, Rekia Boyd, Breonna Taylor und Tony McDade are more names to be remembered and for whom we demand justice. Also Black people in Germany are threatend with murder by the police. The case of the murder of Oury Jalloh remains unsolved fifteen years later, for instance. But racist murder is only the peak of the iceberg. Daily racism that Black people in Germany experience takes place everywhere, be it searching for an apartment in Freiburg or an encounter with Freiburg's authorities that leaves traces for Black people. Further BIPoCs will find themselves exposed to their devaluation through the white majority and have their right to freedom and equality taken away from them via law in multiple ways.

This injustice, the violation of human dignity, shall no longer be tolerated!
Structural racism, anti-Blackness and daily racism and far-right terror, must be seen as problems and fought against by the whole society!

We are still searching for people that can take over organizational tasks on site, for example providing for the security of Black people. We want to create a space that is as safe as possible for our sibilings and elders. We are calling for non-Black people to stand in solidarity and to keep our back clear.
